The Centre for Employment, Innovation and Change (CERIC) is organising a workshop on platform work. Following the presentation of a recent project for the European Parliament on the social protection of platform workers, three sessions will look into the mobilisation of workers around platform work.
The first session convenes workers activists and trade unions that successfully have organised and mobilised platform workers within the EU. We will have speakers from the UK, Germany, France and Italy. The second session looks at platform work outside of Europe with examples from the US, Mexico and India. The third session looks at cooperatives as alternatives to capitalist platform work.
We cordially invite you to participate in this timely debate about how to best protect workers’ interest in a world of work where technology seems to have changed the rules of the game of how work is organised and how the employment relation is structured.
Organisers (Challenge Fund Project Contesting Platform Work): Charles Umney, Vera Trappmann, Simon Joyce, Gabriella Alberti, Ioulia Bessa, Matt Cole, Mark Stuart
