Croydon Momentum in collaboration with LARAF (Labour Against Racism and Fascism) invite you to our flagship event on Fascism, Racism and their Contemporary Afterlives.
Invited speakers are Prof Esther Leslie (Birkbeck), Dr Alberto Toscano (Goldsmiths) and Anwar Akhtar from The Samosa charity.
About the speakers:
Professor Esther Leslie is Professor in Political Aesthetics at Birkbeck College, University of London. She is Co-director of the Birkbeck Institute for the Humanities. See http://www.bbk.ac.uk/english/our-staff/full-time-academic-staff/leslie
Dr Alberto Toscano is Reader in Critical Theory and Co-Director of the Centre for Philosophy and Critical Theory at Goldsmiths College, University of London. See https://www.gold.ac.uk/sociology/staff/toscano/
Anwar Akhtar is the Founder/ Director of The Samosa Media project, www.thesamosa.co.uk and led The Royal Society of Arts & Commerce Pakistan Calling www.pkcalling.com project, which produced over 70 films looking at education, culture, religion, development, conflict resolution, women, and minority rights in the UK and Pakistan.
LARAF aims to mobilise Labour Party members for anti-racist and anti-fascist activities, including demonstrations and local campaigns, as well as to share experience and spread local anti-racist initiatives across boroughs and Constituency Labour Parties (CLPs).
